We started in the middle of a fierce battle with two bugbears.
They had cornered you in a small barracks room.
Sagnus blasted the bugbear in the center of the room with a Ray of Frost.
Wood also connected with a slash of his short sword.
The wounded Bugbear panicked and tried to push Dnath out of the doorway in an attempt to flee into the cellar. But Dnath held his ground, blocking it’s path.
The other bugbear just outside the door smashed a distracted Dna with his morning star, knocking him unconscious with a single massive blow.
Mud used his inspiration to reroll a natural 1 on an attack on the injured bugbear – but still missed.
Aster finished the wounded bugbear with a crossbow bolt to the head, fired from her position of cover amongst the barrels in a corner of the room.
She then ran to the door of the room and slammed it. Leaving the remaining bugbear outside, alone in the cellar.
Sagnus quickly stabilised Dnath then moved to help Aster with reinforcing the door.
Wood moved Dnath to one of the beds and cast a healing spell on him.
Dnath regained consciousness.
Aster noticed the door being locked from the outside, followed by the sound of footsteps outside in the Cellar.
Mud went to try and open the door with his crowbar but Aster blocked his way.
Aster quietly unlocked the door with her thieves tools, opened it and peaked outside.
She saw the remaining bugbear on the far side of the pool, javelin in hand and headed for the secret door in the south west corner of the cellar.
Sagnus crawled out the room using the lip of the pool as cover, trying to get close enough to cast Sleep on the bugbear.
Unfortunately the spell had little effect on the large beast.
Sagnus watched from the floor as Wood lifted the once captive Rebrand and poked it’s bloodied head out of the room. INSPIRATION
The bugbear noticed the movement and immediately threw it’s javelin at the dead Redbrand – using up its only ranged attack.
The javelin missed, piercing the barrels of provisions beside Sagnus.
The bugbear then fled the room through the secret door leaving it half closed behind it in its haste.
Mud and Aster immediately dashed after him.
Aster managed to get within melee range but fumbled her attack – her short sword clanging to the ground.
Dna got up from the bed and went to search the bugbear floating in the pool.
He discovered coins, a jewelled eye patch and an empty key chain.
Sagnus took a risky shot with his Ray of Frost over Aster’s shoulder but missed even with Inspiration.
Wood dashed after the others in pursuit of the Bugbear.
The bugbear disengaged from Aster and fled further down the corridor stopping to block the entrance to the Crevasse.
Mud dashed past Aster following it down the corridor.
Aster retrieved her sword from the ground, caught up with Mud and landed a sneak attack on the bugbear with her dagger.
Dna, Sagnus and Wood all dashed down the corridor as well.
The Bugbear hit Mud with his morning star sending him flying into the wall – knocking him unconscious.
The bugbear roared down at Aster, “Come on!”
Mud failed his first death saving throw.
Aster, keeping eye contact with the bugbear, stepped over Mud then stabbed the bugbear again with her dagger.
Sagnus pushed to frontline, grabbed the bugbear, cast Shocking Grasp and immediately retreated.
Wood jumped in to finish the bugbear, connecting twice with this short swords.
Mud passed his second death saving throw.
Aster searched the bugbear and found an iron key.
Dna cast Spare The Dying on Mud and stabilised him.
Dna heard a door opening and panicked voices from the corridor to the south west of the Crevasse – he signalled to the others to alert them.
Wood, Sagnus and Aster put on the dirty red cloaks.
Everyone climbed through the Crevasse, past the debris of the collapsed bridge and headied for the south exit – Dna carried Mud.
Aster lead the way down the tunnel towards the forest, followed by Dna with Mud.
As Wood and Sagus also prepared enter the tunnel they spotted a Redbrand coming out of the south west corridor.
